This WW2 LVT4 sold for $22,500 recently on eBay. Also known as the Water Buffalo, the LVT4 carried cargo or personnel, particularly in an amphibious assault role. First used in mid-1944 at Saipan, a total of 8,348 were built during 1943-45 by FMC, Graham-Paige and St. Louis Car Co. Similar to the LVT2, it was the first amtrac to provide much-needed stern ramp for unloading of personnel and cargo. Provisions were made for mounting of 4 MGs, with or without shields.
I am selling another Vehicle for my friend, this is the third and final listing because starting price now is lowest he wants to let it go for. So if you are a collector of such you know that starting price is very low considering the rarety and condition of this LVT. This is a LVT4 Alligator As you can see from the pictures it is in great shape. Not many of these made it back to the United States. It was driven to the spot it sits but has not been started for years. I can give you the actual owners info so you can ask him more detailed information. He is only wanting to talk to serious bidders. You will have to make all pickup and transporting arangements. I am in TX. and this item is in Chattanooga, TN.

If you ask me, this was a deal. This is some serious collectors stuff here. It is part of one of the most famous days in history.
